Give me something to sing about

The magnanimous Zoot has added a Find Kyron Harmon button to my sidebar.

Helping me to get the message out to as many folks as I can, please pass it along. Thanks.

While Kyron remains very much on this Mama’s mind, there are still lives to be led, kitchen’s to clean (over and over) dinners to make, questions to answer (what is the very last number?) and special occasions to mark with cake.

Today was the last day of Kindergarten. Last day! Can you believe it? The big yellow bus dropped of a very damp boy, who walked slowly up the steps despite the deluge (The Man says we have had 700% of the rainfall for the month so far).

waiting

We have been talking about how to celebrate this milestone all week. A special dinner menu was decided upon. Hot dogs, Macaroni and cheese, chips and of course cake. If you are a regular in our home you may wonder what is special about the hot dogs and macaroni and cheese we have for every meal. And frankly, you got me there. But nonetheless that was what he wanted, hot dogs with buns, chips, macaroni and cheese and cake.

the meal

And frankly we could all use a little cake right now. Couldn’t we?

And whats with all the carrots?

the hunt

“Is it Spring today?” He asked as we waited for the bus today in a torrential downpour, with wind that threatened to blow us off the porch.

Hunt

“yes, I said, Spring is here”.

“pause”

“because it yesterday was Easter?”

table

Yes, sometimes a sugar coated holiday is the only way to mark the season of rain changing into the season of really really raining.

hard work

We pacific North Westeners? Are pretty good at celebrating, inside.

on the road again…

I was looking back over my posts and I feel like I’ve been leaving you hanging, remember that post where I was all Vampires! Buffy! Guess where I am?

Wah’s road quilt…on the road

Yeah me either, till I stumbled upon it yesterday, anyway, several weeks ago now, we traveled again to Forks. In conversations with Lady J who had briefly hoped to meet me there, so that I would be the only thirty year old vampire watcher around, I said that I found Forks a little over twilighted.

The once rural logging town, still a pleasure to drive to,is a little bit, bedazzled. I’m happy for the sleepy town, and the general store (my favorite!) where I bought new! fabric! this year too. Because, hello awesome.

The park was just as awesome, to break up our hour drive from port Angeles and back but I was a little saddened by the fame and fortune stores.

Still, happy that forks is prospering in a time when so many old logging towns are in the PNW are not.

I’m conflicted. Happy for them, and their jobs, saddened a little for poor me. I’ll probably live. As long as they don’t do anything weird with the general store.

Look it’s a playmat! and a quilt!

We did get to try out Wah’s roadmap quilt, he is so very, very happy that it is bedtime.

Speaking of roadmaps and leaving you hanging tomorrow I’ll show you my major accomplishment from this weekends sewing fest!
