Mini Swap

miniswapWell my mini swap from AnnaKay in Australia arrived. The Moo and I were lucky enough to recieve an original artwork from her, suitable for framing and hanging in the boys room… You know if the second boy IS EVER BORN. And we EVAH FINISH the boys room. Part of the trade was to include postcards of your hometown, and Anna included one of a crew boat …Awesome! I rowed in college on the Snake River. So that was a fun postcard to get. The Man and I fought over the pencil sharpener (lower right hand corner, its circular and red). He liked the game, getting all the silver balls in place, and frankly I needed a pencil sharpener. Moo was particularly pleased with “og” as he calls Kermit! He recieved the Muppet Movie for christmas and has been really into it. Thanks to both Anna and Molly for making this such a fun swap!

I’ve got to hand it to MommyCoddle this was certainly an adventure and I hope she does it again! I’ve enjoyed looking at the photos on flickr of swaps, especially where the kids are old enough to participate.

In other news…still pregnant.

Hey, who ate all the cadburry eggs?

I was lying yesterday when I said I wasn’t holding my breath, because I was. I actually had contractions all day long. They started building around 5pm and got stronger and more consistent until midnight, when they naturally stopped. Dead. Nothing.

Grrr.

Anyway just checking into. No baby yet. No contractions today. *sigh*

But if you are looking for something interesting to read, I’ll ride Zoot’s coattails and recommend Dooce’s new comment policy and yesterday’s post on Stay at home Moms. And I’d like to thank her for expressing her opinion on the matter.

Generousity

Just yesterday, Dallas was pondering the question of why she blogs. And the theme of Blogher 2006 is similar “why we blog“. Perhaps, like Dallas says we blog to make a statement, about who we are, or who we’d like to be. More than likely blogs serve different purposes for all of us.

from zoot And while fun mail is not the reason I blog, it is certainly a perk. I love all the friends I’ve made because of my blog, the connections with people that live in Philadelphia, Pittsburg, and New Hampshire. And let’s not forget, California. People I would never have met without the help of the internet. Today this gift arrived from Zoot. Zoot who does all my design work (and a ton of other people’s) for free. Free. Free. Free!! And she still sends my baby a gift? I’m flattered. And it is an awesome gift. Check out the bag (in the back) it’s got more pockets than one will ever need (and I need a lot of pockets…I love pockets). Where the sidewalk ends…LOVE IT! Various other baby goodies.

And if that weren’t enough?

blanket from zoot She sent this fleece for Moo. He loves fleece. He’s already dragging it around with him. We are truly blessed to have made such great friends. Some of whom we have never met in person. Sure I may be a little emotional right now (with relief!! of having set an inducement date) but I can honestly say…if this is not the reason I blog (meeting other great people) it certainly is one of them.

Thanks to all of you for making the blogging experience a great one for me. I’m truly blessed.

The Verdict

Vicky-we-love-her said if I wanted to wait….we didn’t have to schedule an inducement date.

I said…..”uh, no thanks”

So we are scheduled for Friday…report to the hospital 6:30am. Woohoo

On the other hand…I’m dilated to a three, so maybe earlier? I’m not holding my breath.

It's a mystery to me

Where do all the sippy cups go? And then where do they all come from? Last night we ended up with six sippy cups in our cupboard.

Friday I could only find one…..it’s like socks….only different.

Headed to my date with Vicky-we-love-her soon.

Heart and Sole 2006

Well by intial reports (based on my counting skills–which are somewhat lacking) we had about the same number of runners this year for the Heart and Sole,as we did last year (approx 60) and we broke even. *phew* Sadly my camera ran out of batteries after two pictures so I’m waiting for Lady J to send me pics to upload to the site.

The kids run…A free approx 1k was unbelievable this year! Going from four kids last year to 38 this year! Amazing!

Of course the event had me thinking alot about getting back into the groove…less than two months and I’ll be able to start training again…prepare yourself for lots of whining. *grin* I feel really good about where I am socially/training wise though, lots of friends with kids who exercise is always a great support network and key to getting back into shape.

And I’m looking forward to getting back on top of the RBF blogs, I feel so out of it that I have let a lot of the running blogs pass me by as I try to keep focused on whats happening (or not happening ) here. The Man and I both agree thought that the RBF is one of the most supportive on line communities we are involved in. We all have our favorite blogs to check up on..but it seems like Mark and Aaron have really put together a great thing with the RBF and I’m looking forward to a strong come back from my running hiatus.

Right after I evict this little bugger that is. And no. No sign that he is interested in entering our world. Vicky-we-still-love-her and I have an apt tomorrow at 10:30. I plan on begging. Alot. And bringing chocolate. Alot.

No baby yet

Baby Stitch has not put in an appearance yet. The Man, the Moo and I spent a quiet afternoon at home, cleaning the house and generally lazying around.

I wanted to write a long post about the Heart and Sole run which was this morning, but my hands keep falling asleep (they are definately worse today) and so that will come in stages.

Thanks for all your emails…I’ll keep you posted on baby news.

Right now I’m tired for the first time in many weeks, I’m going to try to get some shut eye.

Boston Dreams Squashed

Tonight The Man and I went for a walk around the lake, our plan was to take the ForeRunner for a spin and measure off the first mile of the Heart and Sole Run. Which we did.

I haven’t excersized that much in about 7 months.

I’m sad to report that I averaged a 32 minute mile.

So it looks like Boston is out.

Construction Junction

construction corner After all my whining and moaning about not having any corners not under construction. I decided to just, you know, go with it. So here is an under construction corner. Future home of the little ones. Last January (that would be 2005, not 2006) we began deconstruction on this room, opening up all the space that the useless eaves (or storage that you couldn’t get to EVAH ) took up, and putting bunks in there. The other side of this room will look identical to this corner. Some. Day.

The blue sponge painting will die a terrible, terrible bad paint job death. I’m thinking ship theme, I already have a few ideas for the quilts on the bunks…luckily at the rate this construction job has gone (and to be fair to the Man, I did spend the whole summer puking and now helping at all) I may actually have quilts done round the time the bunks are…

Packages and packages

earrings from amanda A while ago Amanda asked for help on binding and I sent her an awesome article that really helped set me on the straight and narrow course to great corners and perfect binding. She insisted on sending me something back and being the good natured Stitch I am I said….”Well Okay…GIMME GIMME.…”. Today I got these earrings. Aren’ t they great? She made them herself. Very cool. And frankly and excellent day for a package of goodness from a great internet buddy.

swap from amanda She also sent this bib and burp rag for Baby Stitch. I have one spoiled unborn baby that is for sure. Now if I could just convince him to enter the world…..*grin*. I’m a little jealous because the cookie monster’s mama is having a scheduled c-section tomorrow morning. I’ve never had one but it just seems so neat and packaged, you’re in, their out, you’re sewn up and back in your room…..I know I’m over simplifying but the waiting game is definately stressful for me. Waiting and wondering and wondering and waiting, and then you’re at the hospital….waiting and wondering some more.

One thing The Man and I talked about tonight is all the “advice” everyone gives you on how to get the darn kid out. The old standbys…go for spicy food, castor oil, get amourous with the hubby, yada yada yada. Strangely though, Vicky-we-still-love-her has never once suggested any of these things. And frankly, even though we suffered a minor set back yesterday, our love is strong and so is our trust. So thanks for the suggestions…but I think will stick with Vicky’s plan….you know the medical education of it all….
