Note To Self

Note To Self

Dirty Dishes threaten to take over kitchen and start own colony.

Must Fight Back!

If only the tape player hadn’t eaten Tape Five of the Da Vinci Code, I could listen to it while washing the dishes.

Now I’ll never know.

WHAT’S IN THE BOX???

A game of Squash

The hardest thing about being a Stay At Home Mom (SAHM) for me, was the staying at home part. I never seem to be at home. In the car? Yes. In the home? Not so much. Granted alot of the zooming about is child related. Playgroups, Birthday parties, trips to the park, bike day, etc.

But still not so much in the home. And then suddenly there was Baby Snark and we are home all the time. Getting used to having a new little guy in our routine (or lack there of). And I like it. Today during naptime (both my boyz down and Baby Snark too) I made Zucchini bread and baby food (squash and zucchini). And I read a book while I was nursing Mr. Wah Wah.

Course you know the dishes…not so much and the quilting..even less, but I’m liking the being at home groove. At least for awhile.

The Baby Wah Wah, he is not liking the squash babyfood I made for him though.

Picky.

Running Log
SEVEN MILES. 1:31 minutes

Lady J and Leglolas showed up for our run clinic yesterday. (The Queen Bee was volunteering at a waterstation for Hood to Coast)

We did it. It was long but not painful. And while I didn’t have that soaring feeling I had on Wednesday’s run, “I did have that, I’ve reached another goal” feeling. And, it’s all about goals.

Today’s goals? Potty Training 101.

As of 10:30am?

The Potty: One
The Porch: Seven

Sigh.

Here a beer, there a beer….

This is not going to become a diet blog….because uh….how depressing is that? And I like chocolate too much. And all that. But there I was minding my own business, and you know reading up on Mia’s blog….which I guess is technically minding Mia’s business….

hmmm.

Anywho. Mia and I are in the same canoe, as it were, paddling against the same current. The current that says “You used to be a runner, now your an out of shape mama”. And Mia and I are going to kick that Current’s butt because…uh, how rude is that current?

She has been a big inspiration to me as I try to bounce back from baby two. Try to get my body to believe that this time, I mean it. We are getting in shape. You are either with us or against us.

And most of the time…all that weight, it’s against us.

Ornery.

Tomorrow I’m scheduled for seven miles. Seven. Miles. And while mentally I know I can do it, I’ve done it before, I haven’t really done it in over a year. And that is a long time ago. And honestly? Like forty pounds ago. At least.

Seven Miles is the part of the training where you really have to start paying attention to what you are putting into you body. BAD CHOCOLATE..DOWN!

And what you are not putting into your body…because the latter is really where I mess up.

I was a vegetarian for fifteen years. I know…like what is the deal? Mostly I ate grass. And bread. Lots of bread. I was a collegiate athlete and so lots of carbs was good. But after college, I was not a collegiate athlete. And lots of carbs was bad.

The RBF has helped me alot with correct diet because to hear my father in law (Ran about 13 Marathons in his time) talk, a loaf a bread at dinner, is good running preparation. And beer. Lots of beer. Is good.

While carbo loading is important the day before the run, it’s not that important two months before the run. And beer, really never worked for me…before a run. And apparently chocolate is not that important in training either. ( I know…lame)

Where was I?

Vegetarian. Right. So anyway, I married The Man aka I eat raw meat (not a vegetarian) and then I got pregnant and I craved Bacon. Lots of Bacon. Bacon Bacon, I’m aching for Bacon. And then I was no longer a vegetarian.

But I still wasn’t used to getting protein the old fashion way and so when preparing for runs, I slip back into easily prepackaged protein to get ready.

So while this is not going to turn into a diet blog, it is still arunning blog (sometimes) and as a runner we must prepare. Prepare. Prepare. Prepare. And part of that preparation is what you are eating (and not eating) when you are not running.

So no ice cream for me tonight….and no beer either. *sniff*

36 hours alone with the Boyz

The Man left this morning for the Hood to Coast.

He starts out on Leg 4..I don’t know what that works out to, but I know he runs three times. One of those times is 2amish. Bummer.

The Boys and I will head to Seaside tomorrow to pick him up, his van is estimated to be there around 2:30, his team is estimated to finish around 7pm. That is at least Five hours of playing in the sand for the Moo.

That’s right 36 hours alone with the Boyz. You know what that means.

Popcorn for Dinner…..AWESOME.

Bloggin Vortex

Which is different than a Vacation Vortex. In a vacation vortex you are behind in your reading of blogs, because, The Surf! The Pool! The Showering ! The use of the bathroom! Alone!

In a Bloggin Vortex you forget the children in the home and only become alarmed when THE SILENCE …….IT IS EVERYWHERE!

After assessing the safety of said children….sand comes out the other end right? I lost myself in bloglines.

Skimming my way through the blogosphere trying to hit the highlights I came across this post by Jon (lately of Michigan). In which he pimped up Mark’s new thing. The Complete Running Network.

The Running Blog Family
is one of the most supportive groups on the Internet.

*LOVE*

Through them my husband and I have met many wonderful bloggers including our Vegas Pals Jeff and Partyrunner. I have always been impressed with the quality of people in the RBF, and have never run in to those Nasty trolls you find so often in the Mommy blogosphere….or sometimes the crafty blogs.

Check out Mark’s new thing, with contributions from three of my favorite Running Chicks. Mia, Dawn and Deanna the original running chick.

So Go there! Check it out. Oh and tell them I sent you because I totally entered the “Shamelessly Send People Here and we’ll give you Prizes” contest.

Now back to our regularly scheduled bloggage.

Look What I did….

winterscape I took this picture before leaving the East Coast, look I finished my Winterscape Tablerunner. Sure my Aunt’s birthday was in January….I was busy then. Shush.

I was happy to get this marked off my to do list. Yay! freedom to start a new project. What UFo list?

Speaking of starting new projects…we’ve taken on watching Prince of the Snarks now that the Queen has returned to work. And I say we, because this is where Moo has sat all morning while the baby is sleeping.

Rocking the Run

Running Log
3.5 miles

This morning’s run was sweet. Saaaaawheeet. I was (*cough * *cough* ) abandoned by Lady J who asked me if I was up for the run this morning. I considered heading home and snuggling back into my warm bed….but then I remembered the wet diaper that was sleeping on my head and the nursing baby on one side….

I decided to run instead.

And somewhere around the two mile mark my run went from ‘making it through’ to ‘rockin the run’. I went from plodding along to Run NING. And it was awesome. I haven’t felt that strong running for awhile. My hips were loose, my breathing was regular and I was getting excited. I finished the last 1.5 mile running hard and really feeling my oats.

The crisp morning and the familar run were exactly what I needed to get back in the groove of being home.

Although a few more days of vacation…wouldn’t have been bad.

Promises, promises

Yeah, so I promised all these links to other blogs to read while I’m on vacation, I gave you two and now a week later I’m all….yeah who are you?

It’s hard work this vacation….all the going to the beach and the pool..and the beach and the pool. Rough.

It could wear a guy right out.
