Plodding along here at the Burrow and by plodding I mean WHIRLWIND OF ACTIVITY! Haircuts, home repair, purging, preparing ourselves for possible moving or you know possibly not moving because the Market, not so much.
It’s cold and Rainy this July 1st, and you know…whiny. You have to figure you are pretty lucky if you all you have to complain about is the weather. Right?
(picture of our house being covered by lava..step by step)
I mean it’s not like our house was covered in lava!
The weather is driving some of the steadfast Pacific Northwesterners a little batty. Rain, Rain, Rain , Drizzle, Sun! Rain, Rain, Rain, Drizzle, Clouds.
Last week we took a trip to visit Poppop on the coast. There was some sun, but mostly there was Sand! and the Ocean!
How to occupy small boys….’hey, roll this log to the water! GO!”
Each morning as I sneak somewhat stealthily out of the room to head out for a run I leave behind the twoheaded pillow monster. Who is always stealing my pillow.
Monday: Ran 6 min on, 5min off; 3miles
Tuesday: Yoga
Wednesday: Ran 6 min on, 5min off; 3miles
Friday: walked 3 miles
Saturday: biked (pulling 150 pounds of children) 14 miles
Sunday: Ran two miles all the way. (Let’s go all the way…suuusaanaaannah!)
So the sun made it’s appearance this week and was nice enough to stick around for the weekend. We used it to our advantage. Breaking out the crunchy car for her maiden voyage of Summer 2010 (could it really be here?) shhh, don’t scare it away.
We rode into town with two squished boys to check out the new bike store and to see how my back did on it’s maiden voyage of 2010. It did great. I remember my last bike ride of 2009, sometime in July when I fell off the bike upon returning home and had to wait twenty minutes before I could stand and walk into my house.
Back surgery? Totally worth it! Here is to a pain free summer!
Speaking of pain and discomfort, it was apparently a little tight in the back of the crunchycar this year. And a tad heavy 55 lb boy plus 45 lb boy plus 70 lbs of chariot? Um? Heavy. Though the new shiny bike store did not have the tag along bike we were looking for, our old standby store did! We snatched it up and a very happy six year old we had all seven miles home.
Our Summer has begun. Swimming, Camp, visiting with family. It’s all here. Today? The Sun! I know, crazy talk!
Each day though I think about this boy who is still missing. Have you seen him? It’s been almost three weeks since he disappearance from his school. I have ready everything I can get my hands on in this case, and I can tell you one thing.
We have no information. The police are very tight lipped about it, no matter how the media spin it. No matter how the online forums, and newspaper comments try to twist this tale, there is no information. And the fact remains that I, like so many other mothers can not stop thinking about where this little boy is.
Where are you Kyron?
If you have any information or think you have seen this boy? Contact the Multnomah County Sheriff department. Please.
Today was the first day of summer. The longest day of the year. We filled it with Summer camp, time at the park with friends and a new adventure, swim lessons.
We did not see the sun. But I heard it is supposed to make a guest appearance next Tuesday.
So that’s nice.
In the Spring and Winter months, Summer seems to stretch out before us, we anticipate it’s arrival during those damp, dark months, filling our heads and calenders with all the things we are going to do come the end of school.
And here we are in the third week in June, already with the weeks before us filled up with summer camps, swimming lessons and vacation. Already out of free weekends and gas money.
yikes!
The lack of sun, and constant downpour has left my personal spirit of adventure somewhat dampened. I have yet to break out the crunchy car. Yet to hike or adventure far from the house. It’s just to wet. And cold and wahhhhh.
Luckily for me, my boys are much less whiny than I. The have spent time at summer camp, learning about science! camping! They have spent ‘the best day of my life!’ paddling about in the very, large (they are so little) pool.
They are in much anticipation of visiting relatives and flying to New Jersey! and going to the Beach! and reading a Magic Treehouse book! Everyday!
Sometimes, when the summer months fail to produce warmth and light. It is important to bring your own personal suns….
Monday: 5 min on 5 min off
Tuesday: Yoga (organized class)
Wednesday: 5 min on 5 min off
Thursday: Yoga (organized class)
Friday: someone turned my cellphone/alarmclock to vibrate…hmm and also yowswer sore arms from yoga
Saturday: Saturday..in the park…lalalalalalla
Sunday: 5 min on 5 min off
Sunday’s run was just like old times, running with The Man and MF. Breathing hard, trying to keep up, wondering how he talks so much and still runs. Realizing that the 5 min on; 5min off probably wasn’t that much of a trial for him. Turkey.
Even though I looked like a beet when we were done, I had a great run, and even better? I woke up this am ready to run, ready to get up. I’m not sure if it’s been the rain. (oh. the. rain) or the unrelenting cloud cover (oh. the. cloud. cover.) but I just haven’t felt it for about the last week. I’ve had a bad case of the blahs. And even though the cloud cover is still there (still. there.) and the drizzle my shanizzle rain soaked me through and through (oh. the. rain.) on today’s run. I felt good. Energized.
Almost ready to move on to 6min on 6min off. Gasp. Choke. Gag…
Also, to change my cell phone from vibrate to ring. Now if only I can find the four year old who messed with it….
