One afternoon last week, after some beach time, the Stitch Family packed themselves into my Uncle’s car and drove north to visit with some long time blog buddies. I’m not sure if Leah found me or if I found her, but I know we have been blog buddies for almost four years (almost as long as I’ve been blogging). I have been reading her home reno blog since before they had permission to live in their raised ranch.
And last week I finally got a look at the subject of her blog. But not a picture. Somehow in the excitement of arriving! (We have a GPS, never need a map again!) and chasing four little ones, and walking and touring and eating, neither Leah nor I took one picture. Lame.
Ryan and Leah’s house was just as beautiful as it looks in pictures, only in real life? More impressive because it’s not just a picture on someone’s blog it’s really their house. And Scott and I may have been a tad bit jealous of all the grown up ness. Maybe.
Luckily their super adorable babes distracted us from our house envy (apparently their roof doesn’t leak..) long enough for us to eat some pizza (all I did on my vacation was eat! eat! eat!) and discover more cool blog friends we wished we lived closer to. Although in a few years the four of us might have some time to chat as a group, once the kids have gone to college!
Since we’re lacking in photos I’ve subtlety slid in the quilt I made for Leah’s new one, the outside border is my most favorite fish quilt template, I love the way this design flows, and it goes nicely with the octopus.

That’s one of my recent FAVES you’ve done! SO CUTE!
Since I can’t seem to find the thank-you card I wrote you, I will have to tell you here how very very much I LOOOOVE the quilt you made for sweet little Jacob! It’s beautiful with the polka dots and the corduroy and the brown/blue combo – everything wonderful. It’s even nicer in person than in your pictures. The moment we picked it up at the post office (for some reason they wouldn’t deliver it to the house…?), Lily put it on her lap and clung to it in her carseat. Uh-oh, little girl…that’s not yours!
We had such a nice time when you guys came over, and can’t tell you how much we appreciate your loooong drive to our house, your way too-short visit (such a tease), and your looong drive back home. I realized after you left (and after Lily’s scary tumble down the stairs!) that we have something else in common besides home renovation and babies and new short ‘dos: very sweet husbands. And I mean that in the most masculine way possible.
We’re both blessed to have thoughtful, considerate, just NICE men to call our own.
And TALL. They could be the next beach volleyball champs. We could be their cheerleaders. But I digress.
So anyway, thanks again for coming and for the beautiful quilt and for meeting our kids and the ranch. Hopefully, we’ll get to see you again next year!
