What? It’s Tuesday? Whatever.
This vacation has been great…the days have run together as days do on vacation and suddenly it is time to pack. Pack up all the new toys (oh the new toys…*sigh*) and the Christmas presents (shopping done for several people…check!) and the piles of clean laundry (nice) and the running shoes. That I totally ran in …at least once. I think.
Funny how all those weeks of babysitters ended in less running and more sleeping in, and the reading of several books that were completely without merit, but fun to read. Once Scott showed up, the morning runs turned into “Hey let’s walk to Wawa for coffee” (him). Scott is totally and completely in love with WaWa’s coffee selection.
And while my running may have suffered (ahem) slightly while in Jersey, the reality is that every day at the shore is like a mini triathlon.
Each morning starts with running or walking. Then a dip in the pool. Said dip actually involves chasing two naked boys around the house, getting them into suits, slathering their fair skin in lotion taking them to the pool, swimming in circles with them, throwing the ball, reminding them not to run, Not To Run, NOT TO RUN!!! around the pool deck. Getting out of the pool, into the house bathing the chlorine from their sensitive little bodies and getting them dressed and ready for lunch.
After lunch there was some napping by the wee one and biking with Mom by the older one, then once the Wah was awake there was the beach. (insert pool description again-add a bucket or two and a diaper full of sand) after which there was dinner and sometimes another walk, bike ride or trip to the boardwalk rides.
Most days ended with tired babes being carried home (insert weight work out with 32lb and 45lbs weights.)
And while the number don’t add up to a ’successful’ training plan.
We’ve had a pretty good time…
