The pounding waves are already distant memories, as we returned to the Burrow just in time for Fall. And it suddenly is fall, the air is crisper, and the smell of the next season is carried down the valley, just out of our reach.

Today was the first day of school for My four year-old, he started a week behind his classmates, who are all the same friends from last year in with the same teacher-who he ran to hug this morning.

Already he is so much more grown up. Today’s picture was not only put together ( he didn’t seem to have the inclination to do all the projects last year) but there was also spontaneous drawings of the sun, yellow rain and William the Watchcat, of course (last year he would draw just one line of color through each assignment, like a white flag of surrender that he at least had to do something to the paper before they would take it away already).

It was also the first, and last day of apple harvesting around here, our four year old trees, are not quite mature yet, but we have gotten about ten apples, I’m not sure how many the deer have had.

It was the first fresh zucchini bread.

The first nap in the crunchy car, on the way home from school, that we’ve had in awhile.

And for Mama? The first chance I’ve had to sit down and read up on how you all are. Hello again, friends.
