One of the movies the boys watch is called “Journey to Big Water” it is one of the GAZILLION Land Before Time spin off movies that have come out over the years

There is a song that goes, (excuse my voice)

Big, big, big, big waaaater.
Big, big, big, big waaater.
Deep and dark and dangerousssssss.

Catchy No?

Today’s weather has been gloomy, gloomy, gloomy and in my head I find myself singing.

Big, big, big, big waaaater.
Big, big, big, big waaater.
wet and dank and reaallly dark

Its the kind of day where there just doesn’t seem to be any light to speak of anywhere in the house, even with all the lights on. No matter how much wood you put on the fire it doesn’t seem to reach much farther than the woodstove and it is hard to move out of the woodstove room, like to the kitchen where the dishes are not washing themselves, darn them.

It’s a snuggle in and watch movies and quilt kind of day, if you’re 33. If you are 2 it’s a run in circles shrieking kind of day and if your 4 it’s a let’s play hide and seek! Where is the moon? Is it sleeping? I want to be read little red riding hood! Let’s play hide and seek. Why? Why? why. Kind of day.

We’ve compromised with some downtime at the table. While Moo constructs a daisy of construction paper (for Grandma, SHE LIKES DAISIES!! YES!!) Wah, eats glue and studiously colors his hands blue and red (his face is already done *sigh*) all the while threatening to ‘I cut my hair!!!!’

In a few minutes the daisy will be done, and if I’m lucky we’ll move to the warm chair by the fire for some favorite tales (of the moment) Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Moongames (currently in rotation).

If Moo gets his way we’ll spend some time counting to ten and finding new places to hide, although the chair remains a favorite, around the Burrow.

Either one is better than doing the dishes.
