Running Log
Yeah right.
What are you getting for Christmas? I’m getting an MRI. I know! So thoughtful! I’ve stopped walking and have found that I have a lot less pain in my leg and the cramping in my back is gone. It is hard to know though if this just a cyclical thing or if it is actually related to walking/running.
I may be in total denial (my husband thinks I am) about the walking, I really am struggling to wrap my mind around the walking/running being the continuing aggravation.
Last week I called my chiropractor after reading about something called labrar tears. I’ve highlighted the symptoms that I have suffered from in the last six months.
Patients usually apply to physicians with following complaints:
* I don’t have good flexibility in my hip
* It hurts to externally rotate my hip
* I have a terrible pain that woke me up at night
* I have a lower back pain and buttock pain
* I have a terrible pain in my right hip
* My pain is increasing during a physical activity
* I am experiencing a pain in the trochanteric region
* My pain is so bad that after a running for a while, I can’t walk home easily
* I have a terrible pain when I sit, bend and twist
* I have a severe groin pain
* I can’t easily lift my leg
* My pain is increasing when I run through the hills
* I am having a lot of pain down the front of the thigh during any kind of impact activity, even walking
* I am having hip, pelvis, knee and spine pain
* I have been experiencing a limited activity for this month
So you can see where I might think this is the diagnosis! My chiropractor and Physical therapist are less sure. However I have agreed to the MRI because after reading some training blogs of runners who have had the same problem (that often goes undiagnosed for years) I’m finally hopeful that we have found out what the heck the problem is. Because six months in physical therapy is a long time to not have any answers.
I was frustrated that both my chiropractor and Physical therapist were so skeptical but am hopeful that once the MRI is done we will have some answers. Because frankly I’m starting to feel a little crazy.
Reading this “This is kind of a silence disease. Thus there are no obvious symptoms other than pain and mentioned symptoms above. Pain is the major symptom of this disease where the labral tear usually locks the hip. Patient may experience a significant pain. ” helps a lot, but still I’d like to know what is up.
Ta Ta for Now.

I hope you get answers and a solution soon.
That’s a long list of symptoms you have been dealing with! I don’t know how you do it and keep up with 2 active little guys. I hope the MRI helps you find a resolution and some relief.
Are you my twin? For the last 6 wks, I’ve been in excrutiating pain. I’m not sure if it is the same. I’ve been thinking mine is sacroiliac joint and pubic symphysis pain. They have similar symptoms. Hugs to you, friend – it is very difficult to live life when there is constant pain, lack of sleep, and you still have to hold it together and be mom and all that that entails. Please keep me posted. I almost made an appt for an MRI, but then things got a bit better.
It does help to know the what and why – I hope this helps and I hope there is something that will help. I just got my own little semi-diagnosis before x-mas. Wonderful picture!!!!! You may get a happy new year’s card from us (I lost the stamps that were supposed to go on the envelopes on the way to work??). I love all your christmas pictures too!
